Nashville Track Coaches Speak To Rotary Club

On Wednesday afternoon, the Nashville High School track coaches shared with the Nashville Rotary Club about the programs recent success and upcoming outdoor track season.

The staff consists of head coach Rick Baker, assistant coach Glennon Bobo and assistant coach Jerrod Jones. Ted Green is the head coach of the junior high track team.

Baker reported the Scrappers won the 2020 indoor track championship. He said traditionally the top five teams at the indoor meet are the top five teams at the outdoor state championship.

Baker works with the sprinters and jumpers, Bobo coaches the throwers and Jones works with the distance runners.

Bobo said the shot putt and discus events are as much technique as physical power.

Jones said the Cross Country members are contributing on the outdoor track team this spring.

Baker said he expects 20 or more teams at today’s meet in Prescott.

Baker said Coach Green and the junior high track teams have won eight out of the last nine district championships. Green said the junior high success is contributing to the high school success.
