KNAS Makes Historic Switch from 105.5 to 98.7 After Nearly 50 Years on the Dial

There was a historic change Monday morning while you were sleeping.

The frequency for KNAS changed from 105.5 to 98.7. The programming will remain the same and you can still listen to classic country on KNAS the Maverick, but now you will need to move your radio dial from 105.5 to 98.7.

105.5 has been the frequency on KNAS since February 14, 1977 when Pete and Ann Gathright owned PAG Broadcasting. At that time, KNAS was a 3,000 watt station.

Jay Bunyard purchased PAG Broadcasting in August of 2001. One of the first things Bunyard did when he purchased the radio stations in Nashville was hire Brent Pinkerton to be his general Manager. He later built the current transmitter site on Mount Pleasant Drive and increased the frequency to 6,000.

Soon the wattage for KNAS 98.7 the Maverick will be increased to 25,000 watts.

You can still listen to 98.7 the Maverick by going to the station’s website Southwest Arkansas Radio dot Com and click on the listen live button for KNAS. If you are using your mobile devise, you will need to scroll down to the listen live buttons. Currently, Southwest Arkansas Radio has an app in the App Store for I Phones, and soon an Android app will be released.

So, you can still enjoy your favorite country classics and Rangers baseball, but now it’s on KNAS 98.7 the Maverick.
