OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING ON I-30 LEAVES ONE MAN INJURED

On Monday, July 22, 2024, an Indiana man sustained injuries after evading and shooting at Arkansas State Police Troopers. The pursuit began around 10:10 p.m. on Interstate 30 eastbound, close to the border of Hempstead and Nevada counties.

At the 36-mile marker, the man fired at the Troopers, who shot back. Despite a Trooper executing a tactical vehicle intervention near the 35-mile marker, the man managed to regain control of his vehicle, crossing into the median and heading into oncoming eastbound traffic, where his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer.

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Joshua Harrison from Richmond, Indiana, was apprehended and received on-site medical care before being transported to Christus St. Michael Healthcare System in Texarkana, Texas. A female passenger was also detained and taken to the Hempstead County Detention Center. None of the Troopers were harmed during the incident.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an inquiry into the events, and the findings will be reviewed by the prosecuting attorney to assess the legality of the deadly force used, in accordance with Arkansas laws.
