On-Duty USPS Worker Arrested in De Queen on Warrant and Drug Charges

A 54-year-old United States Postal Service (USPS) employee was arrested in De Queen on January 7 after being found in possession of methamphetamine while on duty, according to the arrest affidavit.

Rebecca Klitz, a De Queen resident, was reportedly operating a USPS mail truck when she was approached by an officer with the De Queen Police Department who had received information about an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer located Klitz on North Ninth Street and made contact with her.

Prior to being taken into custody, Klitz was allowed to gather her belongings from the vehicle. However, the officer observed her allegedly attempting to hide something inside her purse, leading to further suspicion.

A subsequent search of the mail truck revealed a small container containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 1.0 grams. The arrest affidavit indicates that Klitz admitted during a later interview that the substance was indeed methamphetamine.

Klitz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class D felony in Arkansas. She was transported to the Sevier County Jail, where she remains in custody.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces with drug-related offenses in the region. The case is still under investigation as authorities proceed with legal proceedings.
