Permit allowed within City of Nashville for salon in residential area

The Nashville City Council has voted to allow a home based hair salon to begin operating in a residential area of West Sypert Street.  Ashley Smith filed an application with the city for a special use permit to operate the salon on her property.  The permit and city approval was required due to the area being zoned for residential purposes only.  Smith’s neighbors voiced no objections to the request.  It was also approved earlier this month by the Planning and Zoning Committee, on a vote of three to nothing.

After some lengthy discussion by council members, the permit also received approval, with only two members, Nick Davis and Freddie Horne voting against the request.
