Pike Co Assessor to hold public meeting at Kirby concerning poultry house values

The Pike County Assessor’s office will be conducting an informational meeting about the recent Poultry House Valuation changes on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 pm in the Kirby School Cafeteria.

Assessor Beckie Alden says the meeting will include information on how updated pricing will impact farmers. Her office will also be glad to answer any questions or concerns.

A state committee met last week with assessors, farmers, and the Arkansas Assessment Coordination Department to discuss the increases, which has caused some confusion. About half of the state’s counties have gone through the reappraisal process since those poultry-house values were changed. Some counties have started taxing at the higher rate, which is actually not required.
