Pike County Court

Pike County Court was held this week seeing 34 YO Charles Schooley of Mineral Springs. Schooley is facing 2 Class D felonies. 1st for Terroristic Threatening in the 1st degree and the 2nd for Domestic Battering in the 3rd degree. Facts constituting reasonable cause are as follows:

 On June 30th at 1:24am officer Micha Brown responded to a call on Preston Lane about a 17 YO male and female being hit. The male told officer Brown that Schooley had slapped him and grabbed him around the throat while the female said that Schooley 

Had punched her in the face, and hit her with a flashlight. Schooley made both of them get on their hands and knees and stated to them he was going to kill them and have a good reason to go back to prison. Officer Brown observed the 17 YO male to have marks around his neck and the female to have a swollen and bruised eye as well as marks on her face, and head. An arrest warrant was issued and Schooler was successfully detained and placed in Pike County jail with a bond in the amount of $50,000. Schooley has entered a plea of Not Guilty and was ordered by judge Chesshir to be submitted to a qualified psychiatrist to determine if he is fit to proceed.

Also in Pike County Court this week was 17 YO Larissa Cogburn. Cogburn faces 3 felony charges including commercial burglary, criminal mischief 1st degree, and breaking or entering. Cogburn was 16 at the time of these violations. On September 26th, 2020 Cogburn broke into Mr. Suds laundry in Glenwood and proceeded to with 2 others to vandalize and steal approximately $300 in coins from the commercial dryer coin boxes. Owner of Mr. Suds laundry, Kevin Baker, said they caused roughly $800 in damages and that at this time this was the 3rd time he had been robbed by who he believed to be the same people. Baker turned over video surveillance to law enforcement who later investigated and confirmed the identity of Larissa Cogburn. Cogburn has entered a plea of not guilty and has a pretrial date set for 9/27 with a trial date of 10/28.
