Pike County Quorum Court

Pike County Quorum Court met Monday evening. In this regular session Judge Mack introduced the new Office of Emergency Management coordinator, Lee Vincent. Vincent is a resident of Murfreesboro and has worked with the local fire department. Vicent said he is thankful and looks forward to serving the community. Mack told the court that Mckinstry Industry reported there was no way to make the solar panel project work for Pike County, however, the county will not be liable for their services. Pike County will also not be liable for the cost of the IGA Audit. Sheriff Hill then took the floor giving a status update of the jail, dispatch, and sheriff’s office. He stated that COVID had recently affected the dispatch office causing them to run extremely short staffed. A motion was made to hire an additional full time dispatcher for the remainder of the year and passed 6/0. Discussion of the current state of the patrol units concerning mileage was brought to the table. After discussion a motion passed for the purchase of a new unit using funds from the “freed up” care act. Last for the quorum was the topic of adding “Juneteenth” to the list of holidays observed. The county currently observes 14 paid holidays. After a short discussion the topic was tabled until next month.
