Pike County Quorum Court Holds Regular Monthly Meeting
Recently, the Pike County Quorum Court met at the Pike County Courthouse for their regular monthly meeting. During the session, several financial reports, ordinances, and appointments were discussed.
Treasurer Loletia Rather presented the December Treasurer’s Report, showing a strong financial position for the county. The County General Fund had a beginning balance of $1,415,447.45 and an ending balance of $2,013,802.75. The County Road Fund started with $699,847.43 and ended with $753,692.44, while the Landfill Fund began with $900,695.38 and finished at $928,771.12. A motion to accept the report was made by Justice Jerry Fendley and seconded by Justice Seth Kirkham, passing with a unanimous 6-0 vote.
Clerk Randee Edwards then read an ordinance, which sets the date, time, and place for the 2025 and 2026 monthly Quorum Court meetings and adopts Robert’s Rules and the Procedural Guide for Arkansas County Quorum Court meetings. The ordinance was adopted unanimously following a motion by Justice Paul Baker and a second by Justice Robbie Crocker.
The next item on the agenda was the reading of appropriation an ordinance 2025-2 to amend the 2025 budget. The ordinance was approved with a 7-0 vote after a motion from Justice Jerry Fendley and a second from Justice Crocker.
The court then addressed the appointment of a delegate to the 75-member governing body of the Quorum Court. Justice Baker nominated Justice Johnnie Plyler, and with no other nominations, the motion passed 7-0 after a second from Justice Fendley.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
