Pike County Quorum Court Meeting

Pike County’s budget for 2020 was approved Monday night by the quorum court.  County general funds will be just over four million dollars next year while all funds combined give Pike County a total budget in excess of seven and a half million dollars.  All full time employees are scheduled to receive a four percent pay increase.  The budget committee also recommended moving two dispatchers from county general to the 911 budget and one additional dispatcher will be hired.
A technology upgrade is coming to the county next year.  J.P.’s voted Monday night to accept a bid from South Central Connect for phone and internet upgrades at the courthouse, jail and three libraries.  The bid also includes television at the jail.  It will be at least six months before the upgrades can take place.  In addition to internet speeds that will be more than 30 times faster than the county offices currently have, the upgrade will cost the county less money.
Pike County J.P.’s also levied the millage rate for next year.  There will be no changes in county or school district millage rates.
