Pike County Quorum Court Purchases New Equipment
The Pike County Quorum Court has approved of some new equipment for the road department.
At Monday night’s quorum court meeting, j.p.’s authorized County Judge Dewight Mack to purchase a 2018 backhoe. The machinery lists for 89 thousand dollars, however, with a trade-in the price is expected to be in the 51 thousand range. The judge also received approval to purchase a new trash truck which is expected to cost around 165 thousand dollars.
The topic of feral hogs was again discussed Monday evening. Extension Agent Terrell Davis said the U of A Extension Service is interested in putting a trap in Pike County. Davis said the landowner must be willing to assist with the set up and taking down of the trap. The Extension Service would pay the phone bill for the first year with the county being responsible for it after that. Judge Mack said the agreement would be a win for both the county and its citizens.
