Pike County Quorum Re-Appoints Current Member
The Pike County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting Monday night.
During the meeting, Justices of the Peace approved a motion to re-appoint current member Gary Wofford to serve another term. Jps also approved a motion to adopt a resolution which was for support of the application of automated systems grant for circuit clerks. JPs also approved another motion to adopt a resolution that approves the allocation of funds from the local assistance and tribal consistency fund and the Pike County Road Fund for the purchase of a work truck.
Pike County Judge Eddie Howard discussed the request for additional funding for the Archives Society. Charlotte McCauley was the spokesperson for the group. McCauley explained to the quorum that Archives Society was working on a new history book to be sold. McCauley mentioned that they had pre ordered 360 books and the cost for those books to be pressed in St Louis Missouri would cost $10,000 dollars. According to McCauley’s presentation they need additional funding in the amount of $7500. After a brief discussion, Justices of the Peace approved a motion to give the Archives Society $7500 from the Freed-Up Cares Act Fund for the publication of the history book.
According to Treasurer Loletia Rather’s report for April, County General had a beginning balance of $1,358,821.46 and an ending balance of $1,421,339.29. County Road had a beginning balance of $789,795.82 and an ending balance of $789,025.17. Landfill had a beginning balance of $967,046.93 and an ending balance of $1,079,825.60. There was a 7 to 0 vote to accept the Treasurer’s Report.
