Pike County Receives Federal Grant Money
Pike County has received a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice for community policing.
The county’s quorum court approved a resolution at their June meeting Monday to accept the $243,266 dollar community oriented policing grant.
The funds will be used to furnish school resource officers at both the Center Point and South Pike County school districts over a three year period. County officials were told the Kirby School District has opted out of the program. J.p.’s approved the grant on an 8-1 vote.
By that same vote count, j.p.’s also appointed Freddie Clay to a three year term on the Pike County equalization board.
