Pilot program proves effective in Mineral Springs
Monday night, the Mineral Springs campus principals provided an overview of the district’s test scores during the August meeting of the Mineral Springs School Board.
High School Principal Jondavid Amerson told the board that the pilot program that the district used with the 7th and 8th graders was very effective.
Elementary Principal Ruby Dean reported Mineral Springs students scored better in math than the rest of the state. She also explained that teachers were going to be utilizing pacing guides and curriculum maps this year.
Superintendent Billy Lee recommended the board hire Chad Brinkley as an IT consultant for half the school year. Lee explained Brinkley is an Apple expert and IT consultant from Murfreesboro. Lee said Brinkley will be able help the teachers utilize the Apple products and apps that’s available to them. Brinkley was hired for 15-days and will be paid $12,000 out of the district’s federal funds.
