City of Dierks has new water service ordinance

The city of Dierks has a new ordinance in place pertaining to water services. The most significant change deals with the payment due and delinquent dates. With the new ordinance, Dierks water bills not paid by the 10th of each month, shall have a ten percent penalty added. Exceptions to that include the due date falling on a weekend or legal holiday. Any bill that remains delinquent after the 20th day of each month will have an additional $25 dollar charge assessed and the water service shall be disconnected.
The new ordinance also states that citizens may request the opportunity to come before the city council to seek a re-imbursement of the $25 dollar fee, should there be extenuating circumstances involved in the reason for the delinquency. Customers with a delinquent charge in the last 12 months will not be considered for a re-imbursement.
Customers will not be charged in the event an extreme amount of disconnections is made by the city due to a disaster or because of frozen pipes.
