Prescott Police Investigating Alleged $40,000 Theft from Band Boosters Account
PRESCOTT, Ark. — The Prescott Police Department is actively investigating an alleged theft involving funds from the Prescott Band Boosters, with the total amount in question reaching nearly $40,000, according to Detective Daniel Autry.
In a recent report to the Prescott City Council, Autry confirmed that the investigation centers on financial discrepancies within the Band Boosters’ account. The situation came to light after a concerned citizen contacted authorities, prompting a deeper review into the group’s financial records.
According to a Reasonable Cause affidavit filed in Nevada County Circuit Court, Autry met with a Band Boosters officer who reported that the organization’s bank account had unexpectedly fallen into a negative balance.
Bank statements reviewed by investigators allegedly revealed a series of questionable transactions dating back to early December. These included purchases for small dinners at local restaurants, payments for video streaming services, charges at automotive repair shops and veterinary hospitals, along with multiple cash withdrawals and other miscellaneous expenses.
Records show the account originally had a balance of approximately $19,453.81, but by the start of the investigation, it had fallen to negative $1,055.68. The affidavit states that an estimated $22,346.66 was either spent or withdrawn during the time period under investigation.
Detective Autry emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.
