Recovering America’s Wildlife Reintroduced to Senate

The 2021 version of Recovering America’s Wildlife Act was brought to the Senate floor last week by Senator Roy Blount of Mo. This legislation is an attempt to support the long-term health of fish, wildlife, and their habitats with dedicated, annual funding. Arkansas Game and FIsh Commission Director Austin Booth says that this funding is crucial to conserve species and improve habitat across the state. “These funds would be restricted for work that benefits the 380 species of greatest conservation need in Arkansas. President of Arkansas Wildlife Federation, Charles Buckner, said that to adequately address the needs of wildlife in Arkansas, significantly more funding will be required. Arkansas is looking to receive about $15 million of the available $1.4 billion. This provides money for roughly 75% of the state’s action plan.
