Retired judge appointed to preside in upcoming trial

Recently retired Circuit Judge Charles Yeargan has been appointed by the state to preside over an upcoming trial in Howard County. 77 year old John Krieger is charged with a felony count of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault from a 2019 case. Yeargan was appointed after judges Bryan Chesshir and Tom Cooper both recused themselves due to a conflict.
Jury selection in the trial is expected to take place May 20th. The process will take place in the activities building of First Baptist Church, so that prospective jurors will be spaced out enough to meet the COVID-19 guidelines.
