Scrapper Supermarket Gets $10,000 From Tyson

The Scrapper Supermarket received a $10,000 donation from Tyson foods on Tuesday.

The money will be used to provide community support in the coming months by supplying more food through direct distributions to students in the district.

High school counselor Crystal Evans said the COVID-19 related situation has increased the need for food for students.

The Scrapper Supermarket is pre-packing bags for all campuses and is distributing the same amount of food as before the pandemic. According to Evans, the main difference currently is not allowing junior and senior high students to shop at the pantry as previously was done.

School personnel say they expect the number of students needing food to increase as the year goes on.
