Legacy Warriors win first road game 62-41, Lady Warriors struggle with Lady Timberwolves in 51-45 loss

LOCKESBURG, ARK—Legacy Academy Warriors grabbed a 62-41 win on their first road trip Friday night in Oden. Six players scored to contribute to the win, with three of them in the double digits. The Warriors outpaced the Timberwolves 9-2 in the first quarter but the teams split the second half more evenly with Legacy leading 26-20 at half-time. The Warriors provided a strong 4th quarter shooting 50% and outscoring the home team 24-9. Senior Ethan Gallagher led with 34 points, followed by Eli Mitchell with 11, and Manolo Vazquez with 10. It was a double-double night for Mitchell who had 10 rebounds, and Gallagher with 19. Vazquez and Gallagher each had 5 steals. Jay Wilburn was the high scorer for the Timberwolves with 24 points, followed by Matt Lewis with 11. 
Lockesburg’s Lady Warriors had a difficult game where not a single call seemed to go their way. Foul trouble forced the ladies to play without senior starter Dori Bartek much of the game. The Lady Warriors tied the Lady Timberwolves in scoring in all but the second quarter, which caused them to fall short of a victory. Sophomore Oaklee Lofton refused to give up though and set a school record for the Lady Warriors scoring 34 points. Maddie Lowry led the team with 7 rebounds, followed by 6 from Lofton, and 5 from Trinity Cox. Pearson and Starr each scored 14 points for the Lady Timberwolves; who won the game 51-45.
Legacy’s junior girls’ team took the court in Oden and led much of their game but saw victory slip away in the fourth quarter, losing 20-13 in a low scoring game. Skylar Alexander put up 6 points as the high scorer for the junior lady warriors. while Jesse Martz provided the team 12 rebounds. Caroline Lloyd led the junior Oden team with 6 points.
All four of Legacy’s teams play Tuesday night in Blevins, while the girls only play at home on Thursday against Bearden. A big night of basketball will happen in Lockesburg Friday night as the senior teams only host Battiest, Oklahoma.
