Howard County Fair Association hosting Farm Day for 4th graders in the local school districts

Today, the Howard County Fair Association is hosting a Farm Day for 4th graders from Nashville, Mineral Springs, Dierks and Umpire schools. The event will be held at the Howard County Fairgrounds located at 1565 Highway 371 W in Nashville, from 9 am to 2 pm. There will be 10 stations the students will rotate through including Farm Bureau, AR Forestry, AR Beef, Farm Equipment, Farm Animals, the county extension office, Pilgrims, Animal Nutrition, and Grandview.

Coordinator Sydney Reed said-quote, “This is an event that many years ago was hosted by Nashville FFA for Nashville 6th graders when many of us that are now on the fair board were in school. It was always a lot of fun!” Reed said they wanted to bring this back and open it up to students from all county schools and they are expecting close to 220 students as well as teachers. Reed stated they are getting help from Nashville FFA, Dierks FFA, County 4H members, and others to help the event run smoothly.

Reed said-quote “It was always surprising to us as FFA members how many kids really don’t know where their food and clothing comes from, and what all is produced right here in Arkansas/Howard County! We hope this will be a fun and educational day for the students!”
