Scrappers advance to second round of 4A playoffs with win over the Miners

The Nashville Scrappers went on the road Friday night and came back home with a 28 to 7 victory over the Bauxite Miners in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.

Senior Scrapper quarterback Sloan Perrin scored three touchdowns to lead the Scrappers to the victory.

Nashville scored first with 9:42 to play in the first quarter, Bauxite tied the game at 7 early in the second quarter, but Nashville scored the next 21 points to put the game away.

Nashville’s defense stepped up once again late in the game by intercepting a pass in the end zone with about 2 minutes to play.

Nashville advances to the second round and will be back on the road this week as they travel to Pocahontas to face the Redskins.

The 7-4A conference went 4 and 1 in the first round of the playoffs. Arkadelphia defeated Clinton 49 to 21. Malvern defeated Pottsville 34 to 14. Ashdown came from behind and defeated Lonoke 21 to 14, but Mena was defeated by Ozark 45 to 7.

This week, Arkadelphia will host Ozark. Malvern will be at Lamar and Ashdown will travel to Elkins.
