Scrappers and Scrapperettes brings home a win in matchup against the Leopards

Friday night the Nashville Scrappers and Scrapperettes traveled to Dequeen to play the Leopards and Lady Leopards in another 7-4A Conference match-up.

In girls’ action, the game was off to a slow start, but the Scrapperettes outscored the Lady Leopards 23 to 4 in the first. The Scrapperettes upped their defense and was running a full court press the entire 2nd quarter. The Lady Leopards only scored 11 points to the Scrapperettes 21 points. While the clock was whining down Caroline Dean made a 3-point shot at the buzzer making the score 44 to 15. By the end of the third quarter the Scrapperettes had a 36-point lead, 60 to 24. The sportsmanship rule went into effect in the fourth, the Scrapperettes scored 3 extra points and the Lady Leopards scored 2 points. The Scrapperettes leaped to victory with the final score 63 to 26.

The Scrapperettes are now 13 and 4 overall and 4 and 0 in the 7-4A Conference. The Lady Leopards fell to 7 and 7 overall and 2 and 2 in the conference. 

In boys’ action, it was a tight match at first, but the Scrappers found their niche outscoring the Leopards 19 to 10 in the first quarter. With 6 minutes to go in the second quarter, the Scrappers held an 11-point lead. The Scrappers played hard defense only allowing the Leopards to score 4 points. In the second half the Scrappers really applied pressure to the Leopards, scoring back-to-back points and making defensive plays while adding another 20 points to the board, 57 to 25 in the third. The sportsmanship rule also went into effect, but the Scrappers showed no mercy with the final score 68 to 37.

The Scrappers improved to 8 and 2 overall and 3 and 1 in the conference. The Leopards fell to 4 and 10 overall and 1 and 3 in the conference.
