Scrappers defeats Ashdown 53-18; improves to 3-1 in conference play
The Nashville Scrappers improved to 4 and 3 overall and 3 and 1 in the 7-4A conference Friday night with a 53 to 18 victory over the Ashdown Panthers.
Ashdown jumped out to a 6 to nothing lead on the second play of the game, but Nashville responded when Karson Chambers connected with Kason Morgan for a touchdown pass with 8:43 to play in the first quarter. A few minutes later, Chambers would throw his second touchdown pass of the game to Ja’Marion Conway to put the Scrappers up 13 to 6.
The second quarter would open with a Scrapper field goal and Nashville would have a 16 to 6 lead at the half.
In the second half, DJ Jefferson would score on a 22-yard run to put the Scrappers up 22 to 6. Ashdown would respond on a touchdown run with 8:19 to play in the third to cut the lead to 10. However, Nashville would later score on a 2-yard run by Jefferson and a touchdown pass from Chambers to Conway to increase the lead to 34 to 12 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Chambers would throw two more touchdown passes to Morgan and Tucker Dixon would punch one in for the final score 53 to 18.
This Friday, the Scrappers will travel to Haskell Harmony Grove to take on the Cardinals.
