South Pike County School Board
South Pike County School board met last night for their August Board meeting. A representative from the firm which the board uses regarding the schools bonds was present notifying the board of a renegotiation on a 30-year bond down to 1.92%. This gives the school district right at $1,000,000 in savings. The board also discussed its options concerning masks for the school year. After a lengthy discussion the majority of the board chose to not require masks for the upcoming school year and to follow the guidelines as presented by the CDC. This action did not require a vote. Superintendent, Brad Sullivan, recommended the approval of a camera system within the school district to help track close contact which was approved unanimously with 6 votes. Sullivan stated this expenditure has been approved for ESSER 3 use.
