Mineral Springs City Council votes to suspend payments to county jail

The Mineral Springs City Council held their regular monthly meeting yesterday.

Mayor Bobby Tullis explained to the council what the Sewer Grant Fund would go towards and he made recommendations on how to pay it back.

A motion was passed to submit for a 30 year loan at a 2.25 interest rate, which would bring the monthly payments to $4800. There was a unanimous vote to raise sewer rates to $5, starting in February. There was also a 4 to 2 vote to suspend the $20,000 voluntary payment to the Howard County Jail. These said funds will go towards paying the monthly payments of the sewer grant.
