South Pike County School Board

South Pike County School board met Tuesday evening. Superintendent, Brad Sullivan, gave his report stating that the school district currently had 9 students and 1 staff quarantined due to COVID but felt thus far this year that the systems in place and number have been favourable.

Sullivan continued on to report that new cameras were being installed throughout campus funded via federal esser money. He also brought to the boards attention the possibility of installing vape detectors in the bathrooms at the school as recently this has become an issue on campus. No action was taken on this matter.

Moving on it was announced that SWEPCO had offered its services to replace the entire schools current thermostat system and update it to a wifi enabled control unit which will allow for control via a smart device. Sullivan said he got the deal in writing and it would be coming to the district at absolutely no cost.

Last, a contract addendum was made for Mrs. Hartley after the board recognized they failed to consider her prior years of service concerning her pay. The revision was made equating to a change of $1,500 annually.
