South Pike County School Board Meets
The South Pike County Board of Education met for its regular monthly session and annual report to the public Tuesday night.
During the report to the public, elementary principal, Cindy Lee, informed those present that the Delight Elementary earned a letter grade of ‘A’ and the Murfreesboro Elementary received a ‘C.’ She also reported the Murfreesboro Elementary has been named an Apple Distinguished School. Lee announced the elementary schools showed growth in all areas on the ACT Aspire exam.
High School principal, Davey Jones, reported the high had been named an Apple Distinguished School for another three years and two students are developing an app called “Check Me Out” for the Congressional App Challenge. Jones said the high school earned a ‘B’ grade and was number one in the regional for growth in Math, ELA and Overall.
Superintendent Brad Sullivan reported the Delight Elementary and Murfreesboro High School received growth funds for their improvements on the ACT Aspire exams.
