Southwest Arkansas COVID-19 Cases Steady Over The Weekend

The number of COVID-19 cases in our listening area was unchanged over the weekend.

As of Monday morning, numbers from the health department indicate Howard County with 13 cumulative cases and eight recoveries.

As testing continues to increase, there have been nearly 70 negative results in Howard County. In Pike County, there have been three positive results with two recoveries and the Hempstead County figures show five total cases with two listed as recovered.

Three of Arkansas’ COVID-19 deaths have been reported in southwest Arkansas. Hempstead, Miller and Lafayette counties each are reporting one death, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Little River and Montgomery are among two of the three Arkansas counties that have yet to report a positive case of COVID-19.

Governor Asa Hutchinson stated over the weekend that the state is beating the projection of 2,000 hospitalizations estimated at this time back on April 8th by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.
