State bracing for winter weather
Arkansas is bracing for the potential of ice accumulation alongside other wintry precipitation across much of the state, but particularly in the central and northern portions of the state. Those conditions are expected to begin Wednesday evening and last through Friday.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced during his weekly press conference on Tuesday that National Guard teams have been positioned across the state to assist Arkansans in the event of severe winter weather.
Hutchinson also announced he signed an executive order providing $250,000 in state funding for potential recovery efforts.
Dave Parker, public information officer for the Arkansas Department of Transportation, advised Arkansans to do their best to stay home and stay safe over the next few days. He also detailed preparations ArDoT is taking to prepare for the winter storms, including trucks loaded with rock salt to treat state highways.
Winter Storm advisories remain in effect for a large part of Arkansas through tomorrow.
