Stolen vehicle and stolen firearm recovered during traffic stop
On September 29, Arkansas State Trooper Seth Smedley observed a gray sports utility vehicle on US Highway 70 W traveling at a high rate of speed. Smedley reported he clocked the vehicle at 72 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.
The driver was identified as 34-year-old Christoopher Dillard of Durant, Oklahoma who stated he did not have a driver’s license.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen out of Durant and Dillard had an active warrant out of Grayson County, Texas. Both Dillard and his female passenger, 37-year-old Jamie Flores were then placed into custody, while Smedley inventory the vehicle.
Smedley was assisted in the inventory by Pike County Sheriff’s deputies Aaron Quick and Chance Reid. Officers located approximately 10 ounces of a schedule VI substance, a digital scale, two plastic bags, a gel smoking device, less than 1 gram of schedule III pills inside a safe located in the rear of the vehicle. They discovered a glass smoking device with a white residue inside it in the center console along with a schedule VI substance. And a handgun with 14 live rounds on the driver side of the vehicle.
The handgun had been reported stolen out of Durant, Oklahoma.
Dillard was transported to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Pike County jail. He was charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a firearm by a certain person, theft by receiving, falsifying evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia – meth, Possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, criminal use of property, possession of a controlled substance, speeding and no driver’s license.
Flores was released with no charges filed.
