Suspect arrested for breaking into Murfreesboro Elementary School
In mid-February, Murfreesboro Police Chief Randy Lamb was advised by South Pike County School Superintendent, Tanya Wilcher that the Murfreesboro Elementary building had been broken into.
Lamb reported there were nine different places where the suspect had broken through the ceiling causing damage to the fire sprinkler pipes and ceiling tiles. Lamb reported a metal door was also damaged.
Wilcher also informed Lamb that the school security camera’s captured the suspect’s image.
Lamb identified the suspect as 20-year-old T.J. Wilkerson.
Wilkerson was located walking down School Street, wearing the same pants that he was wearing in the video footage.
While being questioned, Wilkerson allegedly admitted to breaking into the school.
Wilkson is being charged with one count of commercial burglary and one count of criminal mischief in the first degree.
