The 2024 Nashville Scrapper Hall of Fame and Honor Inductees

The second class for the Scrapper Hall of Fame and Scrapper Hall of Honor will be inducted at a ceremony this Saturday, June 22 at 6 pm in the Occasions Building on 4th Street in Nashville.

The Hall of Fame is based on athletic recognition and will include 13 inductees and the Hall of Honor is based on service, merit and accomplishments outside the arena of athletics. There are five Hall of Honor inductees.

The 2023 Hall of Honor inductees include:

J.D. Allen was a 1966 graduate of Nashville High School.

Danny Howard was a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent of the Nashville School District for 33 years.

Amy Holcombe Ball Johnston was a 1939 graduate of Nashville and composed the Alma Marter in 1937.

Neva Byrd taught English and French at Nashville High School for over 30 years.

And, Louis ‘Swampy” Graves was the editor and publisher of the Nashville News from 1950 until his death in 2001.

The 2023 Hall of Fame inductees include:

Jasmine Ellis graduated from Nashville in the class of 2009. She was a member of the 07, 08 and 09 state track teams and the 2008 Heptathlon winner.

Shawn Scoggins graduated in 2008. He was a member of the 3-peat state championship football teams in 05, 06 and 07. Scoggins was a member of the 2006 indoor/outdoor state track teams. And, he holds five Scrapper football records.

Tony Fincher graduated in 1998. He was a member of the 1996 undefeated state football championship team and he played baseball.

Jarred Carlyle was a two-sport letterman in golf and tennis and a member of the 2005 AAA state champion golf team.

George Jones was a 1963 graduate and was a member of the district champion football, basketball, baseball and track teams, all three years of high school.

Jay Turley graduated in 1990. He was all-state and all-district in football and baseball.

Leslie Hendrix was a 1997 graduate. He was a member of the 1996 championship football team and all-state in track and football in 1996 and 1997.

Carlton Williams “Big John” Floyd was the 1931 salutatorian. He played football and was a member of the district track championship team.

Kera Hinds is a 2012 graduate of Nashville High School. She was a member of the 2010 and 2012 state championship softball teams.

Alan Tollett was a four sport letterman. He was all-district and all-state in football and he won the state high point honors in track in 1962 and 1963.

Willie Hopson was a member of the football team and was named an Old Spice Top 50 player in the Nation and a Tom Lemmings Top 100 prospect.

And, Joe and Jim Dildy, who graduated from Nashville and played football at the University of Alabama.

Tickets are on-sale now at the administration building or you can purchase tickets by using the Hall of Fame’s Venmo app account @scrapperhof. Tickets are $30 each.
