Traffic stop in Pike County leads to drug arrest
On August 6th at approximately 10:55am, Officer MacKenzie Vermillion conducted a traffic stop on a female identified as 27-year-old Jessica Mae Flud of Murfreesboro. According to the affidavit, while Flud was looking through her purse for proof of insurance, Officer Vermillion noticed a black and dark blue style container that had a marijuana leaf on it. Vermillion reportedly opened the container and observed suspected marijuana inside of the container. Flud was then asked to step out of the vehicle and go to the front of the patrol unit. Vermillion reportedly ran the registration of the vehicle and it showed to not have any confirmed insurance.
It was also reported that when asked about illegal substances in the vehicle, Flud confessed to having the remains of a marijuana cigarette in her vehicle. Vermillion then searched the car and found a small clear plastic baggy with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamines inside of a metal locket. Flud was transported to the Pike County Detention Facility and charged with possession of a controlled substance, no seatbelt, failure to present driver’s license, and no liability insurance.
