Truck fire on South Fourth Street in Nashville

Only minor injuries were reported from a fiery two vehicle accident on South 4th Street in Nashville Tuesday afternoon. Police Chief Amy Marion said officers were sent to the South 4th and West Thomas Street intersection at 4:11 yesterday afternoon. According to preliminary reports, a passenger pickup truck pulling a horse trailer, was traveling north. The driver of that vehicle was identified as 35 year old Darrell Scoggins of Nashville. Police say the other vehicle involved was an 18 wheeler, driven by 57 year old Paul Litchford of Horatio. Authorities say the semi and trailer were apparently attempting to turn from 4th Street onto Thomas Street, but exact details of the accident are still unknown, and the investigation by local officers is ongoing.
The collision resulted in both vehicles catching on fire, with flames shooting several feet into the air. The flames were high enough that they caused damage to electric lines in the area. Chief Marion said Scoggins received minor injuries in the accident. He was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital by Pafford EMS. Both vehicles were a total loss as a result of the blaze.
