Wilson Park Renovations Delayed Due To Pandemic

At least a couple of projects within the Nashville School District are being put on hold due to COVID-19.

At Monday’s board meeting, superintendent Doug Graham said the district would not be considering a bus bid that was on the agenda. Graham told board members he wanted to make sure money is available before making a recommendation on the purchase.

Also Monday, the superintendent unveiled an architect’s proposed drawing for additional renovations at Wilson Park. That project would include the addition of 79 chair back seats along with a new concession stand and restrooms. The project is expected to cost around 300 to 400 thousand dollars.

Graham reiterated that he wanted to make sure the educational needs of teachers and students are taken care of before proceeding with any other projects for the district.

Through the end of March, the district was in good financial shape, having spent nearly 65 percent of its budget. Superintendent Graham noted that schools and local governments are likely to see a slower pace of tax revenues this year due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19.
