Mineral Springs resident arrested on drug charges

Felony drug charges have been filed against a Mineral Springs area resident. 39 year old Derrick Bethel was arrested during a traffic stop last month, when Nashville police say they stopped him for having a suspended drivers license. During the stop, the department’s K9 unit, Apollo, was used around the vehicle’s perimeter and alerted officers of drugs being present. During a search of the vehicle, officers Greg Parker and David Shelby say they located an eye glass case containing a glass smoke pipe, suspected methamphetamine residue, and other drug paraphernalia.
Bethel is charged with one felony count of possessing a controlled substance. He’s also facing a misdemeanor count of the same charge and driving on a suspended license.
