Year end NPD activity report
Even during a pandemic year, the Nashville Police Department has been active. Chief Amy Marion told the city council Monday night the department has taken 730 reports. The main areas to see decreased this year are the number of traffic stops made & tickets being written. Marion’s activity report this year included 604 tickets issued, 196 accidents worked, 730 reports taken. The department investigated 7 sexual assaults, 29 reports of Domestic Battery, 24 other battery cases, 72 theft reports were received this year. The department also took 22 shoplifting reports, 10 fraud cases. Forgery cases increased this year, with 72 reports received. Marion said most of those forgery reports deal with the unemployment scam that hit the area hard during the early part of the pandemic. . Police also worked 55 criminal mischief cases, 4 violation of protection orders, 20 burglaries, 20 breaking or entering, 9 criminal trespass, 9 D.W.I.’s, and 20 Disorderly Conduct reports. Other reports taken by Nashville police this year included 12 firearms charges, 196 warrants, 68 narcotics cases, 11 drug deliveries, and 57 cases were worked this year by the department’s criminal investigation division. The chief said the statistic she was most proud of this year, is that her department solved 51 of those 57 cases, with just six remaining open.
