3 Howard County farms honored as Arkansas Century Farms

Three Howard County farms are among 30 in Arkansas to be honored recently for being an Arkansas Century Farm.
The program recognizes Arkansas farms of 10 acres or more owned by the same family for at least 100 years. The farms honored this year in Howard County include the Ransom Tact Adamson Timber Farm, which was established in 1878. The Strasner Family Farm, which has been in existence since 1916, and The Wesson Family Farm, established in 1919.

The inductees were part of a recent ceremony attended by Governor Asa Hutchinson & Arkansas Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward.

Agriculture is Arkansas’s largest industry, contributing more than $21 billion to the state’s economy annually and providing more than 269,000 jobs, one of every six jobs, in the state. Arkansas consistently ranks in the top 25 nationally in the production of more than 15 agricultural commodities.
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture began the Century Farm program in 2012 to highlight the contributions of these families to the agriculture industry as well as their overall contributions to our state.
