City of Mineral Springs applying for several grants to make city improvements

Monday night, Mineral Springs Water Superintendent Eric Marks gave update on the sewer pond upgrades under old business, but then asked the council to consider increasing the city’s water and sewer taps from $250 to $500 per tap. The discussion continued for several minutes and then was halted due to the fact that issue was not on the agenda, and it was not ‘old’ business. Mayor Vera Marks asked the council to table the discussion until June.

Council members voted to allow Mayor Marks to submit an application to the Water/Wastewater Advisory Committee for a grant to make wastewater facility improvements.

Council members voted to adjust the city’s budget and they voted to transfer $500 a month to the heavy equipment account. For the past several years, the city has been transferring $100 a month into the account.

Mayor Marks also informed the council members that she had applied for a street/sidewalk grant from ARDot.
