WINTER STORM PROMPTS ACTIVATION OF EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER AT ADEM

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – In response to the severe weather moving into the state, the Arkansas State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) is at Level I activation. ADEM is collaborating with Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the Arkansas National Guard, the National Weather Service out of Little Rock, and other emergency support function personnel.

Some parts of the state started experiencing a wintry mix of snow and ice early in the afternoon on Sunday, January 14, 2024. The ADEM team stands ready to take damage reports and to coordinate resources if needed to help combat any effects of the storm.

ADEM Director A.J. Gary said his team will stay on top of the situation. “I have joined my team here in the SEOC, and we will remain here for the duration. Our top priority is to be ready if something serious happens,” said Director Gary.

In preparation for bitterly cold temperatures, the ADEM has developed an interactive map with a list of warming shelters across the state to assist those seeking shelter. You can find this list HERE

Monitor local weather stations and the National Weather Service to stay informed. For road conditions, ARDOT’s IDriveArkansas app is a great source of information.
