OEM Director discussed Code Red in Howard County

Recently we had the opportunity to speak with Office of Emergency Manager Roddy Smith who’s been in this position a little over a year. 
Smith talked about what his job consists of as an Office Emergency Manager and what he deals with on a daily basis.

The OEM Director also oversees three divisions: Preparedness and Response, Continuity Programs and Emergency Operations.

Smith said they have certain criteria that have to be met in order for the community to be storm ready. He mentioned going to Shreveport to visit with the weather center and what precautions they take when a warning is issued.
