American Bladesmith Society Offers Free Class for Veterans

KMTB and KNAS recently spoke with J.R. Cook from the American Bladesmith Society about an exciting opportunity: a free Bladesmith Class for veterans. Cook detailed what participants can expect from the program.

In addition to the veterans’ class, Cook highlighted other unique offerings from the society, including classes tailored for novelists who are curious about the art of knife-making without the commitment to create their own.

Wrapping up the first part of our interview, Cook shared his impressive background, noting that he joined the American Bladesmith Society in 1986, earned his Masters Rating in 1991, and was honored as Arkansas’ Living Treasure in 2007.

The James Black School of Bladesmithing and Historic Trades is located at 601 Lawrence St, Washington, AR 71862. You can call 870-722-8109 for more information.

Stay tuned for part two of our discussion.
