Area pilots want to add hangers to Howard County Airport

The Howard County Quorum Court held their regular meeting yesterday.

Local pilot Mark Wiley spoke to the quorum court regarding the hangar project at the Howard County Airport.

A pair of state grants were awarded earlier this year for the construction of additional hangars. During the planning stages, it was determined that it’s not feasible to build the hangars at the proposed site, due to elevation issues.

Local pilot Gary Dildy discussed some informative details about the hangars project.

Local pilots have been in negotiation with a neighboring land owner for a property swap agreement. With the change in locations for the proposed hangars, additional construction costs are expected.

The quorum court voted to spend any additional required funds on this project from the county’s American Rescue Plan money.
