Area Schools Receive Money From Game And Fish Commission
Two school districts in Howard County have been awarded grants from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission fine money. The Dierks and Nashville districts will each get more than two thousand 147 dollars to use for their shooting sports program. Dierks will use the money to purchase targets and pay various tournament fees. The Nashville shooting sports program plans to apply the grant money toward the purchase of ammo.
In Pike County, the Kirby School District’s shooting sports team will receive nearly 45 hundred dollars to purchase ammo, shooting vests, and hearing protection The Centerpoint district will receive nearly 58 hundred dollars. Of that amount, 49 hundred dollars will be used by the shooting sports team and the remainder is going to purchases for the district’s fishing program.
The grant money is collected from hunting and fishing fines and is available only to the county where the fines were collected.
