Better Business Bureau Warns of COVID Scams

Speaking of COVID-19 as the state awaits shipment of approximately 1.5 million at home tests to be made available to the general public, a warning has been issued by the Better Business Bureau for people to be aware of possible scams concerning COVID tests. According to the Centers for Disease Control, since the arrival of the Omicron variant, the increase of testing has become a concern. The potential of  lower available tests has led to an increased potential for scams. Unapproved antibody tests which give inaccurate results have been a topic of concern as of lately. You’re encouraged to take care when purchasing tests online and to not give unnecessary information over the phone to those calling who might say you’ve tested positive. When in doubt the BBB recommends reaching out to your primary healthcare provider so as to source a legitimate clinic for testing. With that a reminder that the Howard Memorial Hospital offers COVID testing for those experiencing symptoms from 7am-5pm daily. Or without symptoms with doctor’s orders.
