Caddo Gap man arrested for drug possession

On July 4th, around 10:45 p.m., Officer Mackenzie Vermillion of the Murfreesboro Police Department spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen 1995 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep had been reported stolen on July 3rd from within Murfreesboro.

According to the affidavit, Officer Vermillion saw the Jeep on Evans Street. The vehicle then turned onto West Mauney Street, where Vermillion followed it, confirming it was the stolen Jeep.

The officer observed a white male, later identified as 62-year-old William Griffith Medcalf from Caddo Gap, in the driver’s seat. Medcalf was then arrested for theft by receiving.

Pike County Chief Randy Lamb arrived to assist and discovered a pill container with a green leafy substance and a Star Wars-themed silicone smoking device in plain view under the driver’s seat of the Jeep. Further investigation revealed that Medcalf’s driver’s license was suspended. He was transported to the Pike County Detention Facility, where he faced additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
