Covid cases top 500 in Howard County

The number of people taking Covid-19 tests in the area continues to climb..and so does the number of active cases of the virus. Over the weekend, Howard County topped the 500 mark in active Covid-19 cases, which is the largest number of active cases seen at anytime since the virus first began showing up nearly two years ago. Health Department officials say while the transmissibility of the Omicron variant variant is high, the severity of the impacts seen aren’t as strong as the earlier versions of Covid-19. The virus has been impacting schools, with most area districts opting to utilize the virtual learning method late last week.
As a reminder, Howard Memorial Hospital has exhausted its supply of the Covid tests. The public will be notified when a new shipment of those tests has been received and testing resumes at the hospital.
