Delight men arrested for animal cruelty

On March 10th the Pike County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a woman that her neighbors 31-year old Coty Rector and 27-year-old Dakota Rector of Delight came onto her property and attempted to cut her dog’s throat in an attempt to kill the dog. According to the affidavit, the caller provided Pike County Deputy Bret Reid with security camera footage of both suspects in the act of harming her dog. Officers reportedly stated that Coty Rector grabbed the dog by the back of the neck and held the dog, while Dokota Rector took a knife out of the waistband of Coty Rector’s shorts. It was reported that Dokota Rector then straddled the dog and held its mouth shut in an upright position and cut the dog’s throat from left to right.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with the offence of aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat, or equine, and criminal trespass.
