Dierks School District scored higher than state average on ACT Aspire, last year

The Dierks School District held their annual Report to the Public on Wednesday night. Superintendent Jody Cowart reported the district scored slightly above the state average on the ACT Aspire exam, last year. Cowart, JoAnn Walters Elementary Principal Lori Finley and district bookkeeper Kayla Jones reported on the district’s revenue streams, building goals and enrollment.

During the regular April board meeting, Finley reported the elementary end-of-the-year awards program would be held in the high school gym on May 24th. Cowart reminded those in attendance that graduation will be held on May 16th. Cowart also reported he was working on the class schedule for next year, since the district will be utilizing a 4-day week.

Under new business, the board approved Cowart’s recommendation to enter into a lease agreement for three years with Midwest Bus Sales for a new Thomas bus. The lease amount is $16,850. The board also approved the bid from LiveRisk insurance for the district’s secondary student insurance in the amount of $3,784.
